(Original) Fantastic cooking class! The class takes a small group through appetizers, entrees and desserts that are classically Chilean. The cooks get you actively involved in the cooking and prep, but feed you throughout with prepared items so you don’t get to hungry. They also provide you with recipes and ALOT of alcohol to keep it fun. I highly recommend the class as you get toured through the local markets which might be a place that tourists might otherwise avoid.

Our guide, Vivi, was very communicative ahead of the trip, arrived exactly on time to pick us up from our hotel, was extremely knowledgeable about wine-making and the Casablanca Valley, and made us laugh all the while. Our driver, Jessica, skillfully navigated Santiago traffic and narrow, windy country roads. The vineyards chosen were very unique and offered wines we don't get back in the States. We left the day with 3 bottles of wine. If we had stayed another day, I definitely would have done an additional tour.

(Original) Our guide Philippe was a qualified sommelier and really knew his subject. He took us to two lovely boutique wineries in the Casablanca valley which both boasted some unique wines. Our tour and wine tasting with pairings were great and delicious. We finished off with a gourmet lunch also with lovely wines. We strongly recommend this tour to anyone interested in Chilean wines and do ask for Philippe. He is fantastic.

(Original) Cooking class review: I took the Uncorked cooking class in Santiago in February of this year. While I am not a fan of tours or group activities, this cooking class was one of the highlights of my month-long trip through South America. I especially enjoyed the fact that the day began with a tour of the local markets. From here we learned how to cook several dishes, and while the final dessert of poached pears was a simple dish and not in anyway Chilean, all of the other dishes felt authentic and were tasty. It was fun to meet the other participants and to make all the food. Poncho, our chef and tour guide, was excellent and provided a lot of tips and tricks on things such as knife skills. I found the recipes easy, and will be making ceviche on my own at home. The venue for the class is beautiful, and wine flowed freely throughout the day. I would absolutely recommend taking the cooking class from Uncorked. One note: if you book the class through Airbnb Experiences, you will save $15. Inexplicably, you get no discount when you book through uncorked website directly. Wine tasting class review: I had the pleasure of taking part in the Uncorked cooking class during my stay in Santiago in February. I thoroughly enjoyed the class, and was looking forward to the wine tasting event. I’ve been to a few other wine tasting experiences at wineries previously, and pretty much knew what to expect. The class, while educational, was not that entertaining. To begin with, we began the class 30 minutes late while waiting for a student who fail to appear. It took about 45 minutes before we actually tasted a glass of wine. I learned things about wine that I never knew before and I am thankful for the information, however, I feel like there should’ve been a better balance between fun and learning. If the class is determined to go down a strictly educational route, one thing that would be very helpful would be to hand out notes. We were blasted with facts about wine but never received any notes about what we were learning. In comparison, the cooking class gave out printed recipes which I can then use at home. The food served was very minimal. It just simply wasn’t that fun of a class and I can’t say I would recommend the experience.
